September 11, 2021 was a red letter day in the history of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Silchar Province. At 11:30 am on this day, 17 candidates from six states-Assam, Nagaland, Tripura. Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram were initiated to ‘Come-and-See’ Programme during a special prayer hour in Madonna Concent chapel, Kolasib. Sr Mary Naulak, the Provincial Delegate, received them to Bethany and entrusted them to the care of Sr Therese Zothanpari, the Candidates In-Charge and Sr Emelia, the Assistant Candidates In-Charge. The Initiation Programme began with an hour of prayer with a theme, “I have called you by name you are mine”. The candidates entered the chapel with lighted lamps in their hands and they offered themselves to the Lord symbolically by placing their lighted lamps on the altar. Sr Therese Zothanpari welcomed the candidates along with the community members. There was very conducive atmosphere. During the prayer hour, sisters of the community enacted the Call of Samuel from the Bible. It was enriching and inspiring. |
Sr Mary Naulak, the Provincial Delegate, addressed the candidates, inspired, and encouraged with her thought-provoking message saying: “You are called by God. Listen to Him attentively and discover Him, love him during this period of Formation and ‘Be like Jesus’”. Candidates said ‘yes’ to Jesus and to the Period of Formation through a hymn. Then they were given a blessed cross and black thread to wear around their neck. It was done very solemnly. The Prayer Hour was concluded with a final message and a hymn. The candidates were then led to the hall where they were felicitated by the Provincial Delegate, Sr Mary Naulak, and Sr Kanthi, the Local Superior along with the Community Sisters. The Programme came to an end with a delicious lunch. On the 1st of October, 2021, two more candidates – one each from Meghalaya and Gujarat states were initiated by the local superior Sr Kanthi. |
