Sr. Reshma Leaves for Tanzania, Sr Veronica Returns to Silchar Province |
Silchar Province has once more sent forth another missionary to Tanzania this year. Sr Reshma who has spent 28 years of her precious life in the North East Mission of which Silchar Province is a part, was found most suitable for the nascent Tanzania Mission of Bethany. Silchar province bid her a heartfelt adieu on March 5th in the Provincial House, Silchar. She flew to her new mission land on March 15, 2022 and found an open-armed and open-hearted welcome. |
Sr Reshma is a nurse by training and will be remembered for her significant contributions at Jongksha in Meghalaya, Sihphir and Mamit in Mizoram where she spent a good number of years. Noteworthy are her services at the rehabilitation centre at Sihphir and at the Bethany Health Centre, Mamit where she worked with much love and joy for the addicts and people living with HIV/AIDS. The latest feather in her cap is the Bethany Solace Home (Swadhar Greh), a shelter for women in distress which she started a year ago in collaboration with the government. Sr Reshma had not spared herself in any way when it meant reaching out to people. May God be with her and continue to bless her mission in Tanzania. May she bring solace and sunshine in the lives of the people of that country. |
It is said every cloud has a silver lining. Silchar Province happily welcomed back Sr Maria Veronica who had been away from the region for several years. A nurse by training, Sr Veronica was sent to Tanzania when the Mission was at the very early stages. She worked in the dispensary there and was a great consolation to expectant mothers in the region whom she helped deliver their babies and cared for mothers and children. As she has joined Bethany Convent Mamit, we wish her all the best in her mission there. May God guide her and strengthen her to be a beacon of hope to the women and families in distress. |
