JUNIORS’ ANNUAL SEMINAR AT SILCHAR |
Bethany Silchar Province organized an eight days annual seminar for the Junior Sisters of the Province from 13th to 21st December, followed by the annual 24 hours Adoration of Blessed Sacrament at the Provincial house from 21st to 22nd evening December, 2022. The 12 Junior Sisters of Silchar Province, from Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Shillong, and Tripura attended the seminar. The day commenced with a prayer hour invoking God’s presence led by Sr Josyna Pao and Sr Teresa Gonmei. Sr Surekha BS the Province Councillor, Province Coordinator for Formation and Junior Directress accorded warm welcome to all the participants.and briefed the sisters about the relevance of annual seminar. The seminar was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Sr Clara Mendonca Provincial Councillor and Provincial Asst. Superior, Sr Surekha BS Province Coordinator for Formation and Junior Directress, Sr Veinai Therese, Sr Hriiziini Florence and Sr Sweety Mary Kharbani the group representatives. |
Sr Clara Mendonca in her keynote address elaborated the importance of the Juniorate formation saying, “The Juniorate is designed to deepen and further integrate all the essential elements of religious life so that the junior sisters may be led more fully to the proper life of the Institute, in order to carry out its mission more faithfully and to grow genuinely in their total and irrevocable self-gift to the Lord. As the day progressed, various aspects of religious life like pro-active interaction, soft skills, caring for the senior and sick members of the community, formation of conscience, human trafficking, mission in the NT, letter writing, Christianity in India, Letters from Our Founder RFC Mascarenhas to various sisters and communities and its implementation in the curriculum were discussed which was reinforced by group discussions, activities and presentations. The input sessions were provided by Sr Clara Mendonca BS, Sr Surekha BS, Sr Nirmala Toppo BS, Sr Silvia Pao and Miss Debjani teacher Holy Cross HS School, Silchar. |
Sr Lucious the Provincial Superior of Silchar Province addressed the Junior Sisters on 16th December, during which the sisters wished her congratulations on the occasion of her golden jubilee. One of the highlights of this seminar was that the Junior Sisters had the opportunity to meet with His Excellency Apostolic Nuncio Leopoldo Girelli, the ambassador of Vatican City to India and Nepal, who was on his maiden visit to Barak Valley Deanery, Silchar on 15th and 16th December. The Apostolic Nuncio said, “I am impressed and happy to see that people of different castes and communities live together in peace and harmony in Barak Valley. A society can develop only if people live in peace and harmony. We should respect all cultures. There should be unity in diversity.” The Seminar concluded with all the participants sharing their experiences about the days of seminar and thanking the resource persons for the very reflective and informative sessions. |
